WMI Scholars Program 2023 | RECORD

WMI works to create social change through education and community building by providing bright young people in the developing world with student scholarships and skills training, creating a network of grassroots leaders who catalyze community transformation. Each year WMI provides support to students as they pursue various educational goals. Support is provided for post-secondary schools (university, polytechnic, trade school). Financial support is intended primarily to cover tuition and fees and direct expenses, including books and supplies. The WMI scholarship does not always cover the full cost of tuition and related educational expenses.

Eligibility criteria

The ideal candidate – should be a student, male or female, from a developing world country who:

  • Have successfully completed secondary education, with good to excellent grades
  • Are aged 35 or under on 1 March 2023
  • Will study in home country or another country in the developing world*
  • Pursuing his first degree or diploma
  • Will enroll in a program of study that will benefit the community and/or contribute to the continued development and progress of his/her home country
  • He plans to live and work in his home country after graduation
  • Has demonstrated his/her commitment to giving back and has volunteered before applying
  • He may have some other funds available for his education, but he will not be able to pursue his degree in higher education without financial aid

Application Procedures

How to apply: There are two ways to apply for this scholarship, either online, or by mailing in a completed application package to the office.

For online application: You must apply by visiting the application portal where you will be asked to create a free account (username and password), fill in information and upload documents. Applying online is highly recommended as it will give you the opportunity to save your work and come back multiple times.
