US Embassy Community College Initiative Program 2022-23

US Embassy Community College Initiative Program Scholarship sponsored by the U.S. Department of State, provides opportunities for individuals from other countries to develop leadership, professional skills, and English language proficiency while attending a community college in the United States.

Participants gain technical skills and can earn certificates in their fields of study. Participants who studied across America observed Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service by participating in a variety of service and learning activities on campus and in the community.

DETAILS | US Community College Initiative Program

Participants in the CCI Program are recruited from historically underrepresented and underserved communities. Upon completion of the program, participants return home with new skills and expertise to help them contribute to the economic growth and development of their country.

Eligibility criteria

Applicants are expected to meet the following eligibility criteria for the US Community College Initiative Program

  • Applicants must be international students
  • Students admitted to the undergraduate degree program.
  • Be 18 years old at the start of the program
  • Have a high school diploma
  • Have basic knowledge of English
  • Desire to develop professional and leadership skills to contribute to the development of their communities
  • Be able to start your academic exchange program in the United States in July 2020
  • Meet the country’s requirements
  • Applicants must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Candidates must be highly motivated, responsible and able to work independently in a structured manner and have good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Applicants must have an offer for a full-time program at North Island College, Canada.

Eligible courses: Applicants are studying in one of the following eligible fields:

  • Agriculture
  • applied mechanics
  • Management and business administration,
  • Preschool Education
  • Information technology, media, public safety and tourism and
  • Hosting management.

Selection Criteria:

Recruitment and appointment of candidates to eligible countries is managed by the Fulbright Commission or the Public Affairs Department of the US Embassy. CCI awards are not Fulbright awards.
