University of Southern Denmark Doctoral Research Fellowships 2022 (Fully Funded)

The University of Southern Denmark through the Mads Clausen Institute is currently seeking a suitable candidate for a 3-year position as a PhD Research Fellow in the field of theoretical condensed matter theory for 2D materials with a start date of 1 September 2022 or as soon as possible thereafter.

Possible candidates for the fully funded 3 years old PhD-Fellowship are expected to have a relevant MSc degree in physics or engineering and with a specialization in condensed matter theory.

DETAILS | SD University PhD Research Scholarships

The position is supported by a research grant from the Independent Research Fund Denmark (DFF) awarded to Prof. N. Asger Mortensen (SDU) and Prof. Nuno MR Peres (University of Minho) for research on “Polaritons in twisted bilayer materials”.

Eligibility criteria

To be eligible for University of Southern Denmark PhD Research Scholarships, applicants are expected to meet the following requirements:

  • Applicants are required to have a master’s degree (equivalent to a Danish master’s degree) at the time of registration and employment.
  • Employment as a PhD is a 3-year salaried position (the starting salary amounts to approximately 3,378 – EUROS per month including supplements).
  • Recruitment of a doctoral fellow can only take place after the Director of the School of Doctoral Studies has approved the candidate for admission to the doctoral school.
  • Employment and enrollment will cease without further notice at the end of the term.
  • A Ph.D. is not allowed to have any kind of secondary employment while enrolled as a Ph.D. at the faculty.

  • Completed TEK PhD application for 5+3 candidates. Find the form at School website.
  • Cover letter with motivation. Upload to the field called “Project Description”.
  • Detailed Curriculum Vitae, describing research, publication and teaching experience, computing skills and personal contact information.
  • Certified copies of official bachelor’s and master’s degree and exam transcripts, both original documents and professionally translated into English.
  • Completed TEK PhD form for calculating grade point average. Find the form at School website. Upload to one of the fields called “Post”.
  • Official document describing the grading system of the awarding universities (if not Denmark). Upload to one of the fields called “Post”.
  • Formal and written assessment of the thesis or thesis project by the grading institution if the thesis/examination project is assessed as pass/pass. The statement must clearly state that the candidate was among the top 30%. in the graduating class for the curriculum.
  • List of publications and up to 2 examples of related publications, in case you have publications. Attach a pdf file for each post.
  • References (names and emails) and letters of reference may also be included. You are welcome to use the reference letter form at School website.
