University of Leeds Psychology International Excellence Scholarships in UK for 2022/2023

The International Psychology Excellence Scholarships are an automatic scholarship awarded to undergraduate applicants achieving AAA or above at A-level (or equivalent) and will take the form of a fee reduction.

The scholarship is committed to attracting the brightest and greatest students from around the world, regardless of their background.

The University of Leeds is a public research university in Leeds, West Yorkshire, England. Founded in 1874 as Yorkshire College of Science.

In 1884, the university joined the Leeds School of Medicine (founded in 1831) and was renamed Yorkshire College. The University of Leeds became part of the federal Victoria University in 1887, joining Owens College (which became the University of Manchester) and University College Liverpool (which became the University of Liverpool).

In 1904, a royal charter was given to the University of Leeds by King Edward VII. The university has 36,330 students, the 5th largest university in the UK (out of 169).

However, from 2006 to date, the university has always been ranked in the top 5 (along with Manchester University, Manchester Metropolitan University, Nottingham University and Edinburgh University) in the UK for the number of applications received.

The University of Leeds had an income of £751.7 million in 2020/2021, of which £130.1 million was from research grants and contracts. The university has an endowment of £90.5 million (2020–2021), ranking outside the top ten UK universities by financial aid.

Prominent alumni include current Labor leader Keir Starmer, former foreign secretary Jack Straw, former Conservative co-chair Sayeeda Warsi, Piers Sellers (NASA astronaut) and six Nobel laureates.

The University of Leeds was rated joint 19th (along with the University of St Andrews) among UK multi-faculty institutions for the quality of its research (GPA) and 10th for its research strength in the 2014 Research Excellence Framework.

Between 2014-15, the university was rated as the 10th most targeted UK university by graduate employers, falling two places from 8th in the previous 2014 ranking.

In 2021 the Times Higher Education World University Rankings ranked Leeds 153rd in the world. The University of Leeds is ranked 84th globally in the CWTS Leiden ranking.

The University of Leeds is ranked 91st in the world (and 15th in the UK) in 2021 QS World University Rankings. The university has also been named University of the Year 2017 by The Times and The Sunday Times Good University Guide.

In 2019, the university was ranked 150th among universities worldwide Ranking of SCImago Institutions. The University of Leeds won the Queen’s Jubilee Prize in 2009 for services to engineering and technology.

The accolade is awarded to the university’s Institute of Transport Studies (ITS), which for over forty years has been a world leader in transport teaching and research.

The University of Leeds is a founding member of the Russell Group, including the UK’s leading research-intensive universities, as well as the N8 Group for research collaboration, the Worldwide Universities Network, the Association of Commonwealth Universities, the European University Association, the University Consortium White Rose, the Santander Network and the CDIO Initiative.

The university is also affiliated with Universities UK. In addition, Leeds University Business School holds the ‘Triple Crown’ of accreditations from the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business, the Association of MBAs and the European Quality Improvement System.

Qualified students for the International Psychology Excellence Scholarships will receive an award amount BSc Psychology Total: £10,000 and Advanced Psychology MPsyc, BSc Total: £10,000 at the University of Leeds for the academic term 2022/2023.

Eligibility for University of Leeds Psychology International Excellence Scholarships

To be eligible for the International Psychology Excellence Scholarships, applicants must meet all of the following criteria:

  • Students achieving AAA or above at A level (or equivalent) will be considered for the scholarship.
  • Self-funded students completing the University of Leeds International Foundation Year will also be eligible.
