University of Essex Chinese English Translation Scholarships for International Students in UK 2022/2023

You could be eligible for £3,000 through our Chinese English Translation Scholarships if you are an international student studying one of our Chinese English Translation and Interpreting programmes. There are five scholarships available.

The University of Essex is a public research university based in Essex, England. It was founded in 1963, welcomed students in 1964 and achieved a royal charter in 1965 – the university is a glass university.

The shield of the university consists of the old arms attributed to the Kingdom of Essex, and the motto, “Think the harder, heart the keener”, is adapted from the Anglo-Saxon poem. The Battle of Maldon.

The University of Essex comprises three campuses with its main campus at Wivenhoe Park (over 200 acres) and campuses at Southend-on-Sea and Loughton.

The university has 19 academic partnerships domestically and internationally. In addition, domestic partnerships include the University of Essex Online with Kaplan, Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust and the University of Essex International College.

International partnerships include a franchise agreement with Kaplan Singapore and dual and dual degrees with several universities in Europe and Asia, with strong ties to the Shanghai University of Economics and Finance.

The University of Essex is a founding partner of Eastern ARC and the Young European Research Universities network. it is part of the Young Universities for the Future of Europe alliance and is a member of Universities UK.

However, the university has produced many distinguished alumni in various fields, including two Nobel laureates, a head of state, foreign ministers, parliamentarians, scientists, artists, politicians, writers and filmmakers.

The University of Essex has been ranked gold for teaching excellence by TEF since 2017, named University of the Year in Times Higher Education Awards in 2018, a research-intensive university in the 19th from REF and 25th in 2020 and has risen to the 27th top UK university in 2022.

The University’s Department of Governance was awarded a Regius Professorship vested by Her Majesty The Queen in 2013 and the university was awarded the Queen’s Jubilee Prize on two occasions for the promotion of Human Rights in 2009 and Social and Economic Research in 2017.

In addition, the university was named University of the Year at the Times Higher Education Awards in 2018. It won the International Partnership of the Year Award at the Times Higher Education Awards 2019 for its work with Amnesty International and five other universities for the Digital Verification Corps, which investigates human rights violations around the world.

On two occasions, the University of Essex has been awarded the Queen’s Anniversary Prize for Higher and Further Education, in 2009 for promoting the legal and wider practice of international human rights and in 2017 for its authoritative social and economic research to inform the policies of governments for the advancement of people’s lives.

For many years, the university was one of the smallest multi-faculty universities in Britain, but its 2013-19 strategic plan set out to grow by around 50% to around 15,000 students.

It was a member of the 1994 Group. The University of Essex is now a member of the Young European Research Universities Network (YERUN) and the Young Universities for the Future of Europe (YUFE) alliance.

Scholarship Benefits:

Students selected for Chinese English Translation Scholarships will be awarded a £3,000 tuition discount towards the cost of their first year of study on a PG program at the University of Essex.

Requirements for Chinese English Translation Scholarships

To be eligible for Chinese English Translation Scholarships, applicants must:

  • Fully self-finance your studies
  • Hold a conditional offer of admission to one of our Chinese-English Translation and Interpreting courses
  • Applicants must be enrolled and studying at Essex in 2022-23.
  • These Chinese English Translation Scholarships are limited to international applicants who are fully self-funded.
  • This scholarship is only available for the first year of postgraduate studies
