These Scholarships aim at domestic high performance and international students taking a Masters by Research degree or doctoral program.

Postgraduate Research Scholarships provide a grant as well full compensation of remuneration awarded to domestic and international students based on academic value. University of Melbourne Postgraduate Research Scholarships DETAILS

You will receive a notification that a scholarship application has been added to your file within seven days of submitting your course application. If you are enrolled in a postgraduate research program for which you are seeking a scholarship, you must submit an online application form by October 31st to be considered for a scholarship next year.

Eligibility and Selection Criteria

Applicants for the University of Melbourne Postgraduate Research Fellowships are expected to meet the following eligibility requirements.

  • Both domestic and international students are welcome to apply.
  • Your scholarship depends on maintaining a full-time enrollment in your course at the University of Melbourne.
  • If you have enrolled as a full-time student and have been approved to enroll as a part-time student, your scholarship will continue with the part-time scholarship rate from the date of approval until the maximum equivalent full-time duration of the Scholarship.
  • If you have enrolled as a part-time student and have been approved to enroll as a full-time student, your scholarship will continue at the full-time student rate from the date of approval until the maximum equivalent full-time duration of the Scholarship. The compensation fee will not be affected.

Selection Criteria

  • All home students who are offered admission to a postgraduate or doctoral (PhD) degree at the University of Melbourne will receive a research training program scholarship (equivalent fee).
  • Postgraduate research scholarships that provide scholarships as well as compensation fees are awarded to domestic and international students based on academic value.
  • Eligible candidates are graded and ranked according to their academic achievement of their final degree and their research potential in their field of study.

Scholarship benefits

Successful applicants for the scholarship will benefit from the following:

Scholarships and fees offset scholarships:

  • Full remuneration for up to two years for students pursuing a Master by Research degree or up to four years for students pursuing a doctorate.
  • Living allowance of $ 32,400 per year proportionally (full-time study rate 2022) for up to two years for students pursuing a Master by Research degree or up to 3.5 years for students pursuing a doctorate. The subsistence allowance can be adjusted annually and includes limited sick leave, maternity leave and upbringing.
  • A relocation grant of $ 2,000 for students moving from states or regions outside Victoria or $ 3,000 for students moving outside Australia.

Offset scholarships:

  • Full remuneration for up to two years for students pursuing a Master by Research degree or up to four years for students pursuing a doctorate.
