NRRP University of Bologna PhD Scholarships for International Students 2022

The The University of Bologna in collaboration with the NRRP offers PhD scholarships to international students with more than 280 professional development opportunities. The scholarship is a financial benefit that serves to pay for the Ph.D. It does not create an obligation to conclude an employment contract with the company.

The three years PhD Scholarship amounts to a total gross amount of €69,991, with an indicative net cost of approximately €1,200 for 12 months. For each PhD student, there is also a budget for research-related expenses of approximately €5,000 for the three years and a supplement of €600/month for 6 months during periods of stay abroad.

The PhD program provides the necessary skills to carry out high-level research activities and pursue advanced professional careers not only in universities but also in the public and private sectors. PhD students will also undertake a period of training and research abroad and on company placement.

During the programme, PhD students will learn how to conduct original, innovative and independent research in a specific setting and will acquire important transferable skills that go beyond mastery of their specialist subject, such as, for example, the ability to deal with complex problems, management of unforeseen events, work in a team and effectively communicate the results of their work. These key qualities are highly valued in business, manufacturing and service sectors and public administration.

Eligibility criteria

To be eligible for University of Bologna NRRP PhD Scholarships, applicants are expected to meet the following requirements:

  • Applicants must be domestic or international students
  • Undergraduate (second-cycle degree or single-cycle degree program) of the University of Bologna or another Italian or foreign university and will graduate by October 31, 2022;
  • Graduate (second-cycle degree or single-cycle study program) of the University of Bologna or another Italian or foreign university
  • Applicants must have proof of English Language Proficiency.

Application Procedures

How to apply: To obtain a place on a PhD programme, it is necessary to pass a selection process, which is described in the call for applications.
