Duke-NUS Medical School offers a range of scholarships and financial aid to international students taking into account the difficulty of financing a medical education and try to help students use the available resources to meet their various financial needs.

Depending on the individual’s financial situation as well as academic performance, students can apply for any or a combination of three available funding options – tuition loan, scholarship and value scholarship.

  • Scholarships of the Goh Foundation

Goh Foundation Scholarships are available to Duke-NUS Certified Students (approximately 4 recipients per year), with an annual value of S $ 20,000. Applicants must be local or international full-time Duke-NUS students who have demonstrated outstanding academic achievement. People with a proven financial need may be preferred. Scholarships are valid for a full duration of study, up to a maximum of 4 years.

  • The Lee Foundation Scholarship

Each Lee Foundation Scholarship Award costs S $ 20,000 and may vary depending on the case. To meet the different needs of students at different points of their journey in learning and practicing Medicine, the Scholarship is a one-year award that can be used for tuition, education as well as living expenses.

  • Shaw Foundation Scholarship

The Shaw Foundation was founded by philanthropist Tan Sri Dr. Runme Shaw in 1957 to provide funds to help charitable efforts in Singapore with their missions. Since its inception, the foundation has contributed more than US $ 150 million to myriad organizations. Through Shaw Foundation’s generous scholarships, up to 6 selected Duke-NUS students can receive an annual scholarship of between S $ 10,000 and S $ 50,000.

  • Ngee Ann Kongsi Scholars Program

The Ngee Ann Kongsi Distinguished Scholarship Program, Duke-NUS was able to award up to 6 Scholarships per year to selected students, with each scholarship worth between S $ 10,000 and S $ 50,000 per year. Applicants must be a Singaporean or a Singaporean who is a full-time Duke-NUS student with a proven financial need and an outstanding academic background. Subject to satisfactory academic performance throughout, the scholarships are valid for a 4-year duration of the Doctor of Medicine (MD) program.

  • Kwan Im Thong Hood Cho Temple

Duke-NUS awards 1 scholarship each year under the Kwan Im Thong Hood Cho Temple Scholarship Program, with an annual value of between S $ 10,000 and S $ 50,000. The scholarship is usually awarded to a second year medical student.

Eligibility criteria

Applicants are expected to meet the following eligibility criteria for Duke – NUS Medical School Merit scholarships and financial aid programs in Singapore 2021-2022

  • Applicants must be international students.
  • Available for undergraduate and graduate students.
  • Applicants must have a high school diploma or equivalent for an undergraduate program.
  • Applicants must have a certificate of first degree or equivalent for a postgraduate program.
  • Awarded on the basis of academic achievement and personal characteristics, such as substantial involvement in community services or leadership experience.
  • Applicants must be enrolled in a Doctor of Medicine-Doctor of Philosophy full time.

  • How to apply: To be eligible for a value scholarship at Duke-NUS, applicants must apply for financial aid within 28 calendar days of attending the Entrance Exam on Candidate Day.
