    List of Profitable Nigerian Scholarships 2022/23

    There are several scholarship providers in Nigeria that can be used for educational advancement. There are federal government scholarships, state government scholarships, telecom company scholarships, oil company scholarships to name a few. The following are lucrative scholarships available for Nigerian students:

    1. Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF) Scholarships.

    The Petroleum Technology Development Fund, the Federal Government of Nigeria agency is mandated to develop indigenous human capacity and petroleum technology to meet the needs of the oil and gas industry. The scholarship grants students at home and educational institutions abroad at master’s and doctoral level.

    The abroad program was developed to give candidates the opportunity to benefit from a diverse pool of knowledge and facilities offered by world-class institutions around the world. Under this, candidates are invited to apply through PTDF to specific programs at the partner institutions. The award includes the provision of air tickets, payment of health insurance, payment of tuition fees and counter fees (where applicable) and provision of allowances to cover accommodation and living expenses.

    1. MTN Scholarship

    The MTN Scholarships, under the Youth Development Cause, is an annual award that seeks to recognize and reward qualified high-performing students in Nigerian public tertiary institutions: The MTN Science and Technology Scholarship, currently in its 12th year, is open to eligible 300-level students studying Science & Technology-related Courses, in Nigerian public tertiary institutions (Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges of Education). 300 successful students are awarded scholarships worth N200,000.00 annually until graduation if they maintain the required grades.

    There is also the MTN Scholarship for Blind Students and the Top 10 UTME Scholarship which awards N200,00.00 to the top 10 candidates in the UTME announced by Jamb from 100 level to graduation if they maintain the required marks.

    1. Nigerian Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG) Scholarship.

    Nigeria LNG awards scholarships to Nigerian students because education and human capital development have been recognized as intrinsic and fundamental to national development. NLNG has three main levels of scholarship programmes: Post Primary, Under Graduate and post Graduate to encourage academic excellence as well as support human capital development in Nigeria.

    The NLNG scholarship takes into account the reality of Nigeria’s economic situation and can support a student through their educational pursuit if the required grade is maintained.

    1. Agbami Scholarship

    This is a scholarship program that seeks to support Engineering and Medical students in Nigeria. Powered by Star Deep and Agbami Partners. It is an important aspect of the Agbami partners’ Social Investment in the strategic development of health and education in Nigeria, particularly in the Niger Delta. The Agbami Undergraduate Scholarship is open to Nigerian undergraduates in 100L and 200L.

    With close to 10,000 recipients, this scholarship is probably the happiest undergraduate award in Nigeria. The Agbami scholarship application program is worth NGN 100,000 for Engineering students and NGN 200,000 for Medical students. It is open to freshmen and sophomores at tertiary institutions.

    1. Jim Ovia Foundation Scholarship

    The Jim Ovia Scholarship Program has been established since 1998. It is fully funded by Mr. Jim Ovia to provide financial assistance to outstanding young Nigerians. The scholarship was formerly known as the MUST Scholarship. Eligible awardees are supported for their undergraduate and postgraduate studies for the duration of their program and include tuition and maintenance allowances.

    The program offers an average of 100 opportunities each year for new applicants, while renewal applicants are supported annually, provided all eligible scholarship requirements are met.

    1. Federal Government Scholarship (BEA).

    The Federal Scholarship Council through the Federal Ministry of Education, Nigeria provides scholarships to Nigerian students through the Bilateral Educational Agreement (BEA) Scholarship Awards for undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral students to study abroad and the Federal Government scholarship awards applicable to tertiary institutions in Nigeria.

    Successful students are sent to study in participating countries where their educational needs are met. Participating countries are responsible for tuition fees and accommodation, while the Nigerian government provides a stipend, warm clothing, health insurance, research grant where applicable and take-off.

    1. NNPC/Chevron Joint Venture Scholarship

    The scholarship is officially sponsored by Chevron and the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation with the aim of helping many Nigerian undergraduates in various universities in Nigeria to realize their educational dreams. The scholarship may carry the scholar through their undergraduate studies as long as the required grade is maintained. The sum of N100,000 is offered to their fellows until their final year of study.

    1. NDDC Postgraduate Scholarship

    Although the scholarship offer has been put on hold for the past few years, the Niger Delta Commission (NDDC) Postgraduate Scholarship is one of the lucrative scholarships for Nigerian students to study abroad. As part of its Human Resource Development initiatives, the NDDC is supporting Postgraduate Overseas Scholarship Program to equip Niger Deltans with relevant education and skills to effectively participate in the Local Content program of the current Administration as well as compete globally in various professional fields.
