KU Leuven Global Minds PhD Scholarship Program 2023/24

KU Leuven is pleased to announce outstanding scholars from institutions in the Global South to apply for the KU Leuven Global Minds PhD Scholarships 2023/24 with the aim of supporting the ideal candidate to carry out a 4-year PhD research.

The scholarships are offered to outstanding proposals addressing a development-related research topic, preferably linked to one or more of the Sustainable Development Goals.

KU Leuven Global Minds PhD Scholarships 2023 | ELIGIBILITY

To be considered for Global Minds PhD Scholarships, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Applicants must be citizens of one of the countries listed in the list.
  • The applicant’s last master’s degree must have been awarded no later than ten years before October 1, 2023.
  • The research project must be of excellent academic quality, with particular emphasis on the developmental relevance of the proposal.
  • The research project must have a clear timetable indicating how the research periods at KU Leuven and the home institution will alternate.
  • The candidate must be officially affiliated with a home country university.

  • Full tuition waiver
  • 100% of the assistant’s net salary (approx. 2199 euros/month)
  • Four return tickets in economy class.

Application Procedures

How to apply: Interested applicants for the KU Leuven Global Minds Doctoral Scholarships 2023 should follow them 2-step application procedures. First the candidate must be admitted to a doctoral or pre-doctoral program. Second, once this acceptance is obtained, the candidate can apply for the KU Leuven Global Minds Doctoral Scholarship.
