Japan/World Bank Joint Graduate Scholarships 2023: The Joint Japan/World Bank Graduate Scholarship Program (JJ/WBGSP) is a program that aims to support men and women from developing countries who wish to pursue a master’s degree in a development-related field.
JJ/WBGSP offers fellowship opportunities for approximately 26 participating programs at universities in the US, Europe, Africa, Oceania, and Japan in key development areas, including economic policy management, fiscal policy, and infrastructure management.

Japan/World Bank Joint Graduate Scholarship 2023 | Eligibility criteria
To be considered for the Japan/World Bank Joint Graduate Scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Applicants must be citizens of a developing country member of the World Bank and must not hold dual citizenship of a developed country.
- Applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree or equivalent obtained at least 3 years prior to the application deadline.
- Applicants must have 3 years or more of recent development related experience after obtaining a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
- He must be in good health
- Applicants must have been offered unconditional admission to enroll in the upcoming academic year in at least one of the JJ/WBGSP Preferred or Partner Master’s Degree programs.
Scholarship benefits
The JJ/WBGSP Scholarship provides the recipient with the following benefits:
- Economy class air travel between your home country and the host university at the start of your study program and immediately after the end of the scholarship period. In addition to round-trip air travel, scholars will receive a US$500 travel allowance for each trip.
- Tuition fees for your graduate program and the cost of basic medical insurance taken through the university.
- While on campus during the scholarship period, a monthly living allowance to cover all living expenses (accommodation, food, etc., including books). The amount of the allowance varies depending on the host country.

Application process
How to apply: Interested applicants for the Japan/World Bank Joint Graduate Scholarship for Developing Countries must complete the Online Application Form 2023 on or before the application deadline.
Those seeking a JJ/WBGSP Preferred Program Scholarship must simultaneously apply for admission to one or more of the Preferred Programs and apply for a JJWBGSP Scholarship.
