New Zealand – Global Research Alliance Doctoral Scholarships (NZ-GRADS) – Special Round 2022 is now open and welcomes applications from eligible candidates from around the world. The New Zealand Government through the New Zealand Ministry of Primary Industries will support eligible students from developing countries for a fully funded PhD study in New Zealand.
The scholarship enables students from developing countries to come to New Zealand to work on research projects related to greenhouse gas mitigation in agriculture.

Eligibility | New Zealand Global Research Alliance PhD Scholarships 2022
The following criteria are non-negotiable:
- Your PhD study must be conducted in New Zealand (not remotely)
- You cannot have citizenship or permanent resident status in New Zealand or Australia
- You must be from a developing country.
- You can apply for one of the available projects.
Eligible research areas:
For this special round, four PhD projects aligned with New Zealand research programs have been selected:
- Estimation of soil carbon changes associated with land management and land use change.
- Long-term effects of soil phosphorus fertilizers on soil nitrogen cycling and greenhouse gas emission.
- Characteristics of plants and plants/microbes affecting NtwoEmissions from the ground.
- Climate Neutral Farms (ClieNFarms).

How to Apply: Interested candidates are encouraged to send their applications online. Applications must be completed and submitted exclusively through Education New Zealand online application portal.
