Erasmus Mundus Scholarships 2023 | Eligibility criteria

To be considered for Erasmus Mundus Scholarships 2023, interested applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Prospective students must have already obtained a first degree of higher education or have demonstrated a recognized equivalent level of learning in accordance with national rules and legislation in force by the application deadline. This means that scholarship applicants must hold a higher education degree by January 2023 to start the program in 2023.
  • Students who have already received an Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degrees (EMJMD) scholarship or are former holders of Erasmus Mundus Master/Doctoral Course scholarships are are not eligible for additional scholarship under the EMJMD action. Students benefiting from an EMJMD scholarship cannot benefit from another EU scholarship while continuing their studies at EMJMD.
  • The list of countries whose nationals are eligible for scholarship is presented here. The differentiation between country program students and partner country applied to students. No more than 25% of the total number of scholarships available will be awarded to students from the program country.
  • The monthly living allowance is not granted to Fellows from a Partner Country for EMJMD periods exceeding three months (indicatively the equivalent of 15 ECTS credits) spent in any Partner Country.
  • Students from partner countries who have carried out their main activity (study, work, etc.) for more than a total of 12 months in the last five years in any of the program countries (EU + Turkey, Macedonia, Norway, Liechtenstein, Iceland) will be considered applicant countries of the program according to 12 month rule.
  • For any given academic year, prospective students can apply for three different joint programs supported by Erasmus Mundus scholarships.
  • A complete and timely application is required for any application to be considered.

Erasmus Mundus Scholarship 2023 | Application Guide

Application procedures and examinations for compliance with entry (eligibility) requirements are managed by the services of the participating University.

The admission process is conducted by the EMHRPP Joint Admissions Committee, which consists of the convenors and the administrative coordinator of the participating university based on common pre-defined criteria

The ranking is divided into three parts:

  • academic ability (up to 40 points)
  • letter of motivation (up to 20 points).
  • work experience and letters of recommendation (up to 40 points).

The sum of all three parts can give a maximum of 100 points. The ranking is done taking into account the final score given to each candidate (from the highest to the lowest final score).

Due consideration will be given to equal opportunity measures capable of promoting the participation of students from disadvantaged groups.

Application schedule
