DAAD Scholarship for students from developing countries to study in Germany

Applications are now open for DAAD Scholarship for students from developing countries to study at the Munich Intellectual Property Law Center (MIPLC), Germany. Successful applicants are fully funded to cover the full exemption from MIPLC fees, the € 850 monthly allowance, health insurance, travel allowance, research allowance and other related expenses.

The MIPLC is part of the DAAD Scholarship Program for “Postgraduate Courses in Development”. If you want to apply for the scholarship offered in this context, note that there are several special conditions.

Eligibility criteria DAAD Scholarship for students from developing countries

You are eligible for the DAAD Scholarship if you meet the following requirements in addition to the MIPLC admission criteria:

  • You are from a developing country (according to OECD DAC list) and you have not lived outside your country of origin (or other developing country) for more than the last two years.
  • Have at least a four-year Bachelor’s degree (or a three-year Bachelor’s degree plus an additional degree) completed with above-average results.
  • You received your last degree more than six years before your application.
  • You have at least two years of full-time professional experience gained in a public authority or in a public or private company in a developing country.

Scholarship benefits

Scholarship recipients will receive

  • Complete exemption from the MIPLC fee
  • Monthly charge 850 euros
  • Payments for health, accident and liability insurance in Germany
  • Travel allowance, unless these expenses are covered by the country of origin or other source of funding
  • Study and research allowance
  • A compulsory two-month German course before the start of the MIPLC LL.M. program (August and September, in Munich or another German city).

As the DAAD scholarship includes a full exemption from the fees, you must apply for MIPLC financial assistance at the same time.

Application Procedures

Complete applications will be evaluated for admission on a rolling basis. From all the candidates that will be accepted, we will gather a short list of candidates who will be invited for an interview via video conference to be held in January or February. Based on these interviews, the MIPLC will pre-select the researchers and the DAAD will make the final decision in early March.
