DETAILS Postgraduate Research Fellowship of the Government of Canada

Natural Resources Canada, in collaboration with Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada, Environment and Climate Change Canada, Fisheries and Oceans Canada, Health Canada & Public Health Agency of Canada, is looking for recent science graduates to participate in the Postdoctoral Research Program.

Federal researchers contribute to strategic decisions, policies, regulations and programs by providing a sound scientific knowledge base through their research. Researchers carry out their work according to the department’s instructions in order to achieve specific results and to capture, locate, formulate and set in motion new results in the provision of programs, covering the future needs of the department.

Eligibility criteria

To be eligible for the Government of Canada Postdoctoral Research Fellowship, applicants are expected to meet the following requirements:

  • They must be candidates domestic or international students
  • Applicants must be admitted to the doctoral program.
  • Candidates must have obtained a PhD within the last three (3) years from a recognized post-secondary institution in the field of natural sciences with a specialization related to the duties of the position.
  • You are currently enrolled in a doctoral program at a recognized post-secondary institution, however, you must have completed your degree to be appointed to a position.
  • Experience in designing and conducting research.
  • Experience working with a team of researchers and support staff.
  • Experience that leads to a recognized achievement in the form of writing and editing published or unpublished reports, books, papers, peer-reviewed journals or other announcements. This experience must be gained in one of the following ways:
  • Research, experimental development or assignment of tasks related to operational equipment and problems.
  • Business research and scientific analysis.
  • Design, analysis and evaluation of Canadian and foreign research and development programs; or
  • Development work leading to the issuance of patents, copyrights or the creation of improved varieties, functions or designs and / or the recognition by the professional community of the research environment.
