The Australian Government, in partnership with the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, is currently awarding the Communication Program of the Australia Awards Pacific Scholarships for International Students for the academic term 2022 – 2023. These scholarships are fully funded.

The purpose of the Australia Awards Pacific Scholarships is to give people the opportunity to gain and build the knowledge and skills to drive positive change and influence the development of their home country.

DETAILS | Australia Pacific Awards Scholarships

The Australia Awards Pacific Scholarships provide individuals from developing Pacific countries with opportunities to study at selected educational institutions in the Pacific region in order to acquire and build the knowledge that will impact the development of their home country.

Scholarships are offered for the minimum period the individual is expected to complete the academic program. Scholarships may include preparatory programs (including English language courses) which are usually limited to one year.

Eligibility criteria

To be eligible for Australia Pacific Awards Scholarships, applicants are expected to meet the following requirements:

  • Applicants must be a citizen and resident of the country participating in the Australia Awards Pacific Scholarships
  • Applicants must not have or be entitled to permanent residence in Australia. and are not married or engaged to a person who holds or is entitled to Australian or New Zealand citizenship or permanent resident status (unless their country does not issue passports—Cook Islands, Niue and Tokelau)
  • Applicants must meet specific eligibility criteria imposed by the government of the applicant’s country of citizenship
  • Applicants must satisfy the host government’s immigration requirements for regional students
  • Applicants must not hold another scholarship during the Australia Awards Pacific Scholarship period
  • Applicants must not transfer from another scholarship
  • Applicants must not hold or have received an Australian Government scholarship in the two years preceding the proposed start time of the Australian Pacific Scholarship.

Eligible countries are: Federated States of Micronesia; Fiji? Kiribati? Marshall Islands? Nauru? Niue? Palau? Papua New Guinea? Samoa? Solomon Islands? Tonga? Tuvalu? Vanuatu? and Wallis and Futuna.

Scholarship benefits

Successful applicants for Australia Peace Prize Scholarships will receive the following benefits:

  • In general, the allowances cover a return air ticket from your country to the country of study,
  • Academic and other compulsory fees,
  • Installation allowance and
  • Living allowance paid fortnightly.
